Firework displays are increasingly popular and are a must have extra to celebrate any celebration, whether it is for a wedding, corporate event, product launch, birthdays or just for fun! You can be guaranteed that having a firework display at your event will really impress your guests.
Firework displays need not be as expensive as you think and companies will work within a budget you have in mind. Fireworks will add a real sparkle to almost any event.
A good firework display company will work closely with you to discuss what kind of event you want to hold, how long the display will last and what you would like included if you have any preferences.
Professional Firework Displays
Traditionally around the 5th of November (bonfire night) in the UK there are firework displays to dazzle. The night has been celebrated since ancient times to remember that King James I was not blown up in the Houses of Parliament by Guy Fawkes.
On this date it is common to see an effigy, or ‘guy’, of a man thrown onto a bonfire with fireworks let off late into the evening. The effigy is Guy Fawkes who wanted to over throw the King and the celebrations signify his capture.

Using Fireworks Display at Your Big Event
Although the date is remembered across the country and largely celebrated, fireworks are not limited to this date.
They are now often used at many other events. Perhaps the Royal Wedding will be the next major event, but we will have to wait and see, as much of the detail is closely guarded!
Private parties, weddings and corporate events have all been known to use fireworks in their outdoor displays. Events of all sizes can host a fireworks display, however it is very important that the firm used can not only dazzle your guests; but can also offer a safe environment to your guests whilst they watch the display.
Each crew member, or controller or firer (technically ‘pyrotechnician’) needs to be fully trained to a minimum standard. They must also have adequate certification and insurance - essential parts of managing professional firework displays.
Firework displays can be very dangerous if they are not set up or fired in the correct way. That said, it’s a very pleasing way to entertain private guests or the public, but it should not be forgotten that firework displays have to be set up with plenty of care, and attention to detail.
Catering
It’s popular to provide hot food that goes hand in hand with the time of year that bonfire night and firework displays usually take place. Even if you are hosting a party or wedding during summer, you can take the tradition and cook food on a large barbeque or open kitchen.
Alternative savoury edible delights being popular across the counties are usually cooked in an almost barbecue style, amongst the last embers of the fire:
- Parkin Cake – a moist, dark almost black sticky ginger cake, made using oatmeal, syrup and treacle
- Baked potatoes - wrapped in tin foil and baked on the fire
- Bangers – sausages cooked in the fire
- Toffee apples – common place at festivals in the UK
- Corn on the cob – cooked in tin foil
- Chestnuts – cooked on the fire
- Marshmallows
- Chicken legs – marinated
What to Look For in a Firework Display Company
The company you use must adhere to very strict health and safety regulations. They also must conform to correct distancing rules, for obvious reasons. And it’s essential that the firer is prepared for any event and that he or she can prevent and avoid crisis.
Try to look for companies that can prove they have correct and good quality training, the Pyrotechnics Guild International can train for firers to achieve a PGI certification or a Display Operator Certification (DOC). This is a good standard to look out for when choosing a display firm.
